The extra mile
March 2020
Going the extra mile for our volunteer heroes
A huge well done goes to volunteer Community First Responders, Stacey Colwill and Matthew Burrows, for passing their C1 driving tests, a key element of the process required to become an Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) for the South Western Ambulance Service.
Helping to increase the chance of survival in cases of cardiac arrest
The South Western Ambulance Charity is delighted to be supporting the partnership between SWASFT and GoodSAM to respond to life-threatening calls involving cardiac arrest. In just a few months since going live, over 600 volunteers have registered on the app.

Going the extra mile for the communities we serve
Thank you to everyone who supported our Tesco Bags of Help projects in Tavistock, Lyme Regis and Corscombe & Halstock.
As a result of the funding received from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme the South Western Ambulance Charity have been able to increase public access to defibrillators.
Saving Lives Together Crowdfunding campaign
https://www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/saving-lives-together
The ambulance service cannot always save lives without support from the public and we need to change people’s perception regarding their willingness, confidence and ability to render aid to someone who suffers a cardiac arrest. Doing something is better than doing nothing, and you could help save a life.
